The Independent General Practice - Health Promotion
The IGP was the first Private GP Practice in Wales to be Registered with the HIW (Health Inspectorate Wales).
This is a pro-active approach to the health of employees and starts with raising awareness of illness and its prevention. This approach educates people in early detection of illness and disease. Giving employees accurate and up to date information about relevant or current topics through workplace seminars can lead to health gain.
These topics range from healthy living, smoking cessation, self-examination techniques, recognition of symptoms of stress etc.
Healthy businesses also carry out pre-employment questionnaires and regular health screening during employment to help keep people well and prevent future chronic illness. There is also huge potential in prevention by vaccinating employees with flu vaccine, or Hepatitis B if indicated.
The Independent General Practice provides a personal GP approach to company health and can adapt their approach to suit the needs of specific workforces in various fields of business. These services offer an innovative way to approach these issues - backed up by professional medical advice. Most companies are not big enough to employ their own medical advisor but now any company can access the same type of personal service to improve the well-being of their workforce.
